This particular cave is probably in Kentucky. Jesse had family members in Ky.(Stamping Ground) etc.Has anyone received a better picture of this carving?

I' have seen carved handwriting at an Outlaw camp which said "notice which one of you stole my billfold while I was asleep." I'm not saying the carving is authenticate or not. It may say " I dednt find it." Hope to see better picture.

well I transfered the photo to my photobucket,,,so the link from

here was to there,,,so no link back to source,,,so they either followed

the DNS addresses back from DM's first post and had been following the

thread,,,or someone reported me,,,or Whyte just didn't like it,,,which is also fine,,,

I should of cropped off the bottom,,,but hey I was going to kill it in photobucket,,,

which would have deleted it...

Softy and all,

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think this is not a carving at all, but writing that has been overlayed on a cave wall. Photoshopped.

Of course, everyone can disagree. But I've seen a whole lot of carvings in my lifetime, and this looks like it was written and not carved.

Case closed for me.

firefox lets you click tools page info media ...and you can often download things...you other wise could not

Usually I can click on and save a pic, then open it up with preview and zoom in on it. I couldn't do it with these. Maybe some copywrite tag on it, I don't know.

I just use Internet Explorer.

ha..i have been looking too.. so far no luck to get a better picture. Real or partial fraud or full fraud it is quite interesting all of your thoughts. Rockman..if you look at it as part of a slide show on that site..it comes in bigger. Perhaps just magnified.

By chance do you use firefox instead of internet explorer?

Rockman, I would agree with you about the writing style but I have only seen a few things that can actually be attributed to Jesse James. In his letters his writing style appears to be mostly the same but in the 2-3 carved things they have all been different. You can look at the copper map that JJ carved on and if you believe JJ made the copper map you can compare it also. These two things show very different styles in some of the writing but there are one or two symbols that show up that are...

I understand Alec, but everybody has certain styles in their writing. The way they make an f, or an a, or an s, etc.

Considering that, and the fact that if this is a map by Jesse James, and he wasn't trying to hide the fact obviously, (he signed it) then he also would not have tried to hide his writing style. This isn't carving just using basic alphabet, it has style, someone, maybe Jesse, spent a lot of time carving it. There are plenty of letters here in this carving to...

From the different maps I have seen JJ and Frank had many styles. It all depended on the medium that they were "writing" on. The style of writing can and will be different if you are carving in something as compared to writing on a piece of paper.

There are some very interesting things in this carving. Since I don't know where it is located and haven't looked at the site I can only guess but this would appear to be a good hoax or it is treasure related. I think...

All very good questions and observations Softy. Those are the kinds of things most people miss.

There is undoubtedly some information hidden in the text of the message. He started hiding things with the original date by hiding the number 8 by using the month of August. The "hot on my track" statement may simply be pointing out the word "track" telling you that you need to find something, maybe as simple as a turkey track to follow or begin at.

in 77 or later,,,so why the date Aug 29 76 unless that is when

he was here first,,,or he carved the name and date,,,and later the rest

of the message anytime after 77...if...
