I'm not sure if you can make any part of the ark - 100% pure gold (or even 99%).
I think once again..it's all metaphorical.
The ark is 'golden meaned' - meaning it is based on the golden ratio. The whole giza plataeu is based on the golden ratio.
If the ark is a 'box' it is probably made of electrum - an egyptian alloy of gold which looks nearly exactly like gold but is more of
an odd alloy containing mostly gold, some silver, copper and other...

What you say about the ark per the Bible is correct. So not arguing with you in any way.

You have written several times that:

The Mercy Seat was a later addition and became part of the Ark of the Covenant when it became a permanent fixture in the Holy of Holies of Solomon's

Don't confuse the ark of the covenant - the Temple of David - which is a network of different sites all centered around the 'Mercy Seat' - which is
inverted at the measurements the Bible states. If you look at Ron's drawing - you see how the cherubs make a pyramid - this is the actual measurement the
bible is referring to of the Mercy Seat...not the external...

I've been checking the website that posted the original story, and so far no follow up (they did extend the original article a bit, but that's it). So
maybe it was just a hoax, or a badly founded rumor.

Whyte - Have you tracked where it's ended up? From what I remember the last you said about it was that it had left the Carre and you didn't know where
it went from there...?

I will be one that is waiting to see the next update on this. If it is actually true it will litterly blow my mind because I am one who does believe that the
Ark rests in the Uintas. I to have read that the Ark that actually sits in Ethiopia is just a copy. I have also read that it is no more than a copy of the
actual 10 Commandments. Of course anyone can read anything and most certainly I am one who wants to see my belief to be true. If so then the Ark sits right in
