Hi. I'm new to the forum but have been reading and researching for a couple of years now. I stumbled onto my first set of tree carvings totally by
accident. I was out looking for arrowheads with my son and it's ironic that Beech trees like the same first high ground off the waters edge as the indians
did. It just so happened that these trees were within rock throwing distance of an old confederate cemetary. I began looking for other signs and started
finding "Hoot Owl Trees" or "Indian Trail Trees". When I followed their directional markers it lead me to other trail trees or carvings. I
covered miles of woods and creeks and discovered there is a pattern to these trails and carving sites. The hoot owl trails follow the original travel routes
but are located usually 1/8 to 1/4 mile off of them. I have seen them as far as 1/2 mile away, but always traveling the same direction as the old trails. When
I began driving the old original roads through this area, I also found that there are "Directional Trees" that can be seen from the road that lead to
other trees or carvings. Whether these carving sites form into the infamous "Template" or not is still a story in the making. These
carvings/directional trees/hoot owl trees keep turning up all over the U.S. I'm talking coast to coast and north to south. I can look in HHB's book and
see similar carvings in the field. I read all the sites I can find and see carvings/trees like those found around here.
With that having been said, here is my question for the members of this forum: If this wasn't done by the KGC, then WHO did it? What mysterious group is out there apparently to the present day? I found one carving site last winter and didn't return for about 6 weeks. Guess what I found? A fresh carving on a tree that I had checked the first time I was there! Was this a warning, an attempt to communicate with me, or just some kid having fun? I really don't know, but in a few years it will fade and look very similar to others that are said to be KGC. So WHO is the mastermind behind it all? I say we figure that out and then work the clues from there. If this mysterious group is still in place and functioning then they can be tracked and patterned. Every animal leaves some sign behind and can studied. NO ONE goes into the field and doesn't leave some small clues about who they are or where they are going. I don't care how good they think they have covered their tracks. This also holds true for secret "Societies". They can be like ghosts but they always leave some small clues to their true identity.
