The Pictures might be a bit blurry - that would be Operator Error...LOL Some I am sure are newer. Some I am sure are quite old.

Looks like people adding their initials to a good tree to carve on, as I did on a superb sycamore tree on my Grandfathers farm when I was in love at age 12 and 13. Can't see anything of importance at first glance, but who knows for sure. |

Yep. Nice tree to carve on. Still Tnwoods, always keep your eyes open cause you may come across one with something important on it. If nothing else, sometimes the name and rank and date carved by a Civil War soldier. Those are cool. At least I think they are. |

Looks kind of topo to me - but what the heck do I know. Well not too darn much..LOL |

You know where its at, and can get a map of that area.
That's the first thing I'd look at. After that maybe brand marks from the area, so your not chasing a ghost. There's a marking in the Uintas here that has been speculated on for many years done by a S Atwood that looks like a cat face in nearly every canyon west to east. Thought at one time to point to lost Spanish mines. robert
Your not lost if you don't care where you are...

What is the earlyst date on the tree and the trees around that tree?
|
|||
Tnwoods |
Dates? | ||
|
I don't know really. Didn't see any dates, some stuff has been carved over wiping out whatever was there before. Some of it is new. Some looks to be
pretty darn old. The area does have a long history.

Tree as center marker...maybe.

Do you have a Template? Use the tree as a "location" and a topo map with a Template for the 12 possible sites. Next you might find iron pointers to
sites around this tree, Old-timers used iron buried shallow, and a compass to locate the iron underground.

Hi | ||

Yes I have one.
I need to figure out some other things before it would be useful. Thank you for the advice. |

Did you experience this...Or did you read this?

I agree with Boattow,
If anyone wants to test this, place a railroad spike on a table and see if you can get a compass needle to move by running the compass over it. I agree when metal is in the ground a long time it develops it's own little field, but it isn't enough to move the needle. A buried car might. I'm not sold on the templates. I do believe geometric patterns were used, but it was a pattern of their choosing. Symbols tell you where to find the next point, but not always. Sometimes the rock itself gives direction, and sometimes no distance is given. The rock itself is the point and serves its purpose by being where it is. Knowing what rocks were used as points has everything to do with solving the pattern. You have to keep in mind they had a map. They didn't lay it out so treasure hunters can come along and find it. They laid it out so they could find it. Their map tells them where they can find the points in the field and what point hides the treasure. We have to find the points in the field without a map, and then figure out which point hides the treasure by the clues they left. No easy task for sure. |

Excellent points Rockman and Boattow
|
They had the map..LOL Duh! LOL
They did know where they put everything. I'm petty sure Boattow is correct, correctly reading the trail they left will tell you where things are hidden that one might need to go further. Correctly reading the trail is the kicker...LOL I guess I'll muddle along......... |

Your Tree | ||

Look close for arrows & follow them look for another sign . Be cautious if you dig .. I do see a double cross on your tree ,, It means "DANGER
"
|

Really? | ||

I have not heard that before.
I guess I should be more careful than I normally am. Thanks for that. |

Boattow is right
the only piece of iron that has ever messed with my compass was a rather large cast boiler door that was broken to make a pointer. it only disturbed the compass when I placed the compass next to it to get a photo moved the compass away and got a picture of the piece with an exact compass reading at the same time. They either had some really sensitive equipment or the compass detecting thing is a story. Thom |
