I wonder what the underwater visibility is like there. Maybe you have to dive it in the fall or winter, to get clear views, if any are to be had. Anyway,
I'm almost tempted to see about diving the site. I'd have to buy a couple of pieces of equipment, such as a new Nikonas V camera body, but I could
probably get decent photos with a 15mm lens. With that, you can get to about 18" or so from the rocks. I think I've got a 20mm sitting around, which
could do in a pinch. But, the object couldn't be quite as close, so visibility comes more into play.
Seems like they could come up with a few divers who could photograph it, though. Heck, shoot some video from a housing. |

Visibility should be excellent there! The Great Lakes are infested with Zebra Mussels and/or Quaga Mussels. These mussels filter all the cloudiness,
plankton, polution and microscopic life out of the water. It makes the water a pretty blue but it kills all the fish and wildlife that lived on the plankton.
The resulting clarity of the water is probably what made this find possible.
An
enduring and universal truth: true equality-the power to make a successful stand against tyranny-inevitably flows from the barrel of a
gun.

What a fascinating find. There are stumps and trunks of ice age trees to be found in the great lakes but this is really wonderful. When I lived out that way I
often heard of the forest of trunks under the water. Lake Michigan isn't all that deep either.
I think there was some barrier between Lake Superior and the others lakes and during the last melting that overflowed..or something along those lines. But it was always presented as how Lake Superior came into being. This is..something completely different. I wonder what could be found under the Augustin Plains in New Mexico. Now that's a place that WAS a lake 10,000 years ago..and before that...hmmm... |

Traverse City area is nice. Its in upper west part of lower michigan. The peninsula there is especially nice in the summer..it has very nice and unusual sort
of light you don't see elsewhere. Makes it feel magical.
You can find unusual petroskey? stones on the beach. Do it ptcarroll! That would be so exciting! The copper mines are not too too far away either. |
