I never hear anything about Rawhide, Nev. I know that there is nothing left there. New mining methods has brought down a lot of old Nev. towns there is a lot
to tell about them.Anyone know about these old towns?

I know it's located in Mineral Co. Nevada, but I've never been there. Rawhide was a booming camp before the mines played out. The place was destroyed
by fire in 1908 and by flood in 1909. In the mines, "the decomposed upper zone of the veins contain clay seams that may be extremely rich in gold and
secondary silver minerals." - A.F. Rogers, Econ. Geol.,6, 1911, p. 790. Also written is that the gold appears to be the latest mineral introduced.
That's all I know of this place. Likely others know much more. |
